Reference inquiries can be completed for candidates, business owners, financing, networking, prior to speaking engagements, school/university/college applications - just about for anything or reason on your behalf.
When and why is this done? It is a great idea to conduct your own reference check when you are considering a career move or launching a personal/professional networking campaign to know what others really think of you - what are they willing to say on the record.
Why would I do a personal reference check? When you have an important interview or presentation of any kind, it bolsters your confidence to know that your network, former and current employers, peers, and coworkers are in your corner. It is also a good preemptive tactic when you know it may not be all great.
- ETMC initiates the process by securing customer consent/authorization from you once you have completed your service/product purchase here.
- The goal is to contact current/past immediate supervisor who may or may not engage.
- Engage with an authorized company representative and/or human resources.
- Attempt to secure more than the standard employment verification information.
- ETMC will offer to fax consent form; and will fax the reference check form for completion and return.
- Reference check form may be customized with consideration to customer and purpose.
- ETMC goal is to conduct a verbal reference in order to gain nuanced insights as system/manual records are checked and read.
- ETMC will repeat follow-up up to three (3) attempts with targeted reference provider (supervisor, peer, coworker, direct reports, upper manager, or similar non-employment contacts).
- A record of our efforts and reference summary is provided to the customer.
- An impromptu or scheduled call to debrief you will be completed to review findings immediately when possible.
- A written record of our efforts, inquiries and responses is created.
Because different company policies and personal willingness, we cannot not guarantee the extent of the reference content attained or if a reference will be given. Our goal is to secure as much insights, information as the respondent will provide during a personal telephone call or when completing a scripted reference inquiry form or engaging via email.
